OCEANIC PARTNERS

Supporting changemakers for transformative impact

We Are Oceanic

Oceanic Partners was founded based on the belief that vast and transformative impact is possible if we work collaboratively towards mutual liberation.

Oceanic is a consulting practice that partners with changemakers who are thoughtful about their power and position in their sectors. We support high-net-worth individuals, families, foundations, and non-profits in areas such as strategic planning, foresight, board engagement, learning, research, organizational culture, team retreats, and grantmaking.

At Oceanic, we’re your partners in transformation, walking alongside you every step of the way to help you navigate complex challenges and make informed, forward-thinking decisions. Ready to turn your vision into action? Let’s do it together.

Approach

At Oceanic, we’re on a mission to help social impact organizations and visionary leaders unlock their full potential and drive systems transformation. In our practice, we center relationality, authenticity, and collaboration.

We believe that the best way to make real change happen is through iteration, experimentation, and evolution in community with others.

Our approach values joy and well-being - designing with user experience, restorative practice, accessibility, and trauma-informed principles in mind.

PARTNER WITH US

We are honored to have helped create communities of practice for change makers, hold peer-to-peer learning spaces, design retreats that foster healthy team cultures, and take groups through immersive foresight experiences. Some examples of our work can be found below, though it's not exhaustive. We are always happy to discuss your interests and recommend peers if we are not the best fit.

STRATEGY

Whether for organizations, programs, or grantmaking, good strategy development is critical for deciding where to direct attention and resources initially, and how to engage in learning to support ongoing adaptation. We help you develop a vision for the long-term and explore pathways for how you might get there.

REFLECTION & LEARNING

Reflection is the intentional practice of pausing to deliberately learn, re-examine our assumptions, build shared understanding, and document key decision points. We guide you through reflection and learning practices to help you make better-informed strategic decisions.

FORESIGHT

As part of your strategy process or in between strategy cycles, it's important to learn from what has and hasn’t worked in the past and probe forward to see how your strategy will be ready for what the future brings. We help you design, prepare, and adapt your work for what is coming, not just what exists today.

GRANTMAKING

Effective grantmaking requires significant up front time and effort. During crunch periods or when program staff are on leave, we can provide extra capacity and help by conducting due diligence, reviewing proposals, creating assessment rubrics, and communicating with prospective grantees. After the grant, we can help by reviewing grantee reports and summarizing impact across portfolios.

BOARD, ORGANIZATIONAL & TEAM CULTURE

If you haven't figured out how to row together, it's hard to move towards your north star. We help you identify challenges, strengthen collaboration muscles, and build effective organizations where people feel valued and seen. We are skilled at building communities of practice to support organizational learning needs and helping leadership engage productively with their boards.

EVALUATION & RESEARCH

Evaluation can help you get an external perspective on what changes are happening in your ecosystem and how your work is contributing to that. We are skilled at participatory and mixed methods evaluations that incorporate both qualitative and quantitative data. We can also help you with a variety of research needs, from donor research, to needs assessments, to system mapping.
